Over the past year I began building interests in connecting time periods which transform into hybrid eras. With this, I connected knowledge of ancient weaving and modern technology.

Mtershp: Silent story telling of the cloud era

‘Mining Personhood’ was the beginning of the mthershp series. Woven silk and tencel infests the cityscape of what we know as modern history. Instead of creating relics to preserve our history, we have the cloud.

This collection evolved from the study of my identity as a first generation Iranian-American while living in the age where I am completely reliant on technology because of political turmoil.

Creating a bigger picture through the connections of threads, I am beginning to express the complex identity of being Iranian American by looking at the different layers, a widely known aspect of one’s identity as an Iranian American; conflict embedded in the DNA of our two homelands.
